What do i call ‘mindless eating’?
Well, I’m sure you can all guess … but let me give you a few examples:
-when your mind is somewhere else while eating
-eating in front of the tv, or a screen at work and not taking your lunchtime (anybody ever said 'well done' to you for that, by the way?)
-eating while driving
-taking bites here and there while you're running around sorting things out...
We all do some of it every now and again...
But does it happen to you often? It may seem like you're efficient and multitasking but actually, while doing this, you're putting everything or others before you and not giving time for yourself... if this becomes a pattern, it can damage your overall health and you can also be missing out on an enjoyable part of your day.
Bringing yourself into the moment and actually paying attention to what you’re eating is something that sounds easy to do, still easily forgotten...
So, when you eat, can you try and notice the flavours and textures?, take smaller bites and enjoy sips of water between them?, slow down and give yourself time?...
Becoming aware of when you’re starting to feel full will not only help you actually enjoy your meal more but will also help you managing your weight and will have a great impact on your overall health.
